



Serena Williams captured her third U.S. Open title and ninth career Grand Slam championship after beating Serbia's Jelena Jankovic 6-4, 7-5 last night in the final at the National Tennis Center in New York. The 26-year-old American, who also won in 1999 and 2002, reclaimed the top ranking in women's tennis with the victory. On the men's side, world No. 1 Rafael Nadal was eliminated in four sets by Andy Murray. Murray will face four-time defending champion Roger Federer in tonight's championship match.
