Often I’m asked this question when people learn about my binge eating recovery. They wonder and ask how I did it. They want to learn all the dirty little tricks and secrets to stop binge eating. The truth is that there aren’t really any secrets, all I did was build some healthy habits. All those healthy habits I built basically worked together to keep me on track with my binge eating treatment. Planning what you’ll eat is an important step in binge eating disorder treatment. You don’t need to have a complicated or complex food plan. Instead just plan what you are going to eat before walking into your kitchen or a restaurant. You might go to the kitchen to grab a cup of water, however you might see a food you like, and it entices you to eat even even when you aren’t really hungry. Instead of doing this plan what you are going to have before walking into the kitchen. If you want water, then go in grab your water and go back out. If it’s for a meal then think through what you have in your fridge and the foods you’ll grab. Grab those foods and walk out of the kitchen right away. This is a great way to avoid overeating. A good way to stop binge eating is to eat a healthy breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast helps you start your day right. Assuming you have eaten a healthy breakfast the chances of you overeating later on in the day become slim. Why? Simply because you’ve already had a healthy meal and will feel motivated to make healthy eating a trend in general.
